I missed you LJ/DW!! :D

today is as Saturday. I think it has been at least a month or two since I updated this/LJ. I've been so into so many different TV Shows/Movies, I've hardly even been updating twitter :p I'm still all over tumblr though...

I think I told you about the Bones obsession, but if not, I'm now obsessed with Bones and therefore, Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. and because of the D. Boreanaz thing, I went back and am now watching Buffy and Angel all over again. I used to watch them on TV but never actually finished the series while it was on TV, so this is new and exciting, and also old and refreshing.

that made sense in my head. I'm sorry if it didn't make sense to you :p

I got into Bones on my bestest's recommendation, and she also likes Castle, so now I also like, well LOVE, Castle and because Nathan Fillion is the main character on that show I looked him up and remembered that he was in Firefly/Serenity, so watched them. Firefly was good, got a lot better as the season went on and the last few episodes were awesome. it really sucks that they were cancelled so early on.

so I watched Firefly and then Serenity and Serenity was just awesome, I loved every minute of it :D after that I went back to Fillion's IMDb page and browsed some more and realized that I recognized the movie Waitress as that Keri Russell flick, so I watched that.

I really enjoyed that movie, up until the last like....ten minutes. and it's getting really annoying that that happens with EVERY MOVIE I WATCH. Pulse, Malice in Wonderland, Wake, Waitress...there are more. I know there are more. it just needs to stop happening :p OH! Inception. grr.

Fillion is also in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog, so I watched that with the bestest.  hm...

I got a new phone today! the Motorola Backflip. it doesn't look like it takes a long time for it to charge, hopefully it DOES take a long time for the battery to die. I'm not good with remembering to charge my phone and what not :p

next on the list is a new iPod. I want an iPod touch a lot. a lot a lot.

saw Inception with the brother and aunts on Thursday. that movie really is amazing but as I said, I was dissatisfied with the ending. about half-way through the movie the sound cut out (there was a huge storm outside) and stayed out for a good five minutes or so, so we got free movie passes for the 'inconvenience' or w/e. that's cool, it just means I have to drive all the way out to Menomonee Falls next time I want to see a movie and it has to be before 5:30 PM. sucks.

recently re-connected with a friend of mine, Bryan. we were pretty close in High School, dated a few times too. we go to Starbucks a lot, him, me and the bestest. I'm really hooked on the White Chocolate Mocha's, but Iced now :p

well, you know...I'm sure there's a lot of other stuff going on in my life (hah), but I'm done with the updating for the night. if you miss me, which is slightly unlikely :p, you can follow me on tumblr: www.sleepmybeauty.tumblr.com; I update there almost everyday. maybe not a lot of my own stuff, but a lot of stuff that actually means something to me and whatnot :D things that I love.

go on over, check me out. tumblr's a lot of fun once you get used to it :p

so I realize that I didn't do my end of the week update, my....weekend update, you might say? Just call me Colin Quinn.

I'm a little tipsy right now, so if this post is a little more fun and funny even, you can blame that :p (I refuse to say 'I'm a little drunk' because I had two drinks, but apparently those brandy and coke's hit me kinda hard :p)

so, monday...well, I've recently become obsessed with the actor (I keep saying Stellan, but that's his father and definitely not who I'm obsessed with) Alexander Skarsgard and so around the monday time (it might've been monday, it might've been last saturday, I'm really not sure :p) I downloaded the HBO mini-series he was in, Generation Kill. it was pretty much awesome and so I'm on the hunt for the three Rolling Stones issues that contain the three articles that Evan Wright wrote which eventually spawned the book, which is where HBO got the mini-series from.

tuesday, wednesday, thursday were much of the same; finding things about Generation Kill, skipping through the True Blood eps to watch ASkars parts, re-vamping my icons to include a multitude of ASkars icons and things...yea. went to Chipotle with Erin one of those days and then back to her house to start watching Generation Kill with her. we have three episodes left. she loves it, which is awesome.

Friday, my sister and brother-in-law had to have their ducts (whenever my mother said it I kept thinking she was saying 'ducks', which would've worked to a point because Brandon's a big hunter so has a lot of stuffed ducks and so I thought they were cleaning his animals or w/e....but no. ended up being much more boring than that :p) cleaned and then they had this huge baby merch sale at USA Baby, so they skipped out on dinner to do that. the rest of us went to Culver's instead of the mall because my mother also had to work, so going through the tedium of the mall was just out.

saturday...we went to webb's a little late, around 4ish because aly and brandon had this 3-D sonogram thing to go to, so my mother and father and brandon's mother and step-father went to that and we went to webb's after, because it's like...literally down the block. so for the rest of the day I felt like I was behind about five hours or so. we usually go to webb's at around 10 or 11 in the morning, so at like 7 I felt like it was 12 in the afternoon (it even looked like 12 in the afternoon, my day was all fucked up) and I wanted to go out and...I don't know, play in a park like a five year old or something. seemed like a good idea at the time.

today....was my cousin and godchild Quinn's fourth birthday party. my aunt mary always makes really great food for these parties, but I wasn't feeling it and had maybe a sandwich or two. disappeared for maybe a half-hour to go to the library to pick up the 'Generation Kill' book and no one noticed I was missing, total win in my book :p

and then...tonight I went out with alex to mad dog saloon and as I said, got a little tipsy. and that brings us to here, me Colin Quinn herself telling you about my week. I have to take the car in for an oil change at 7:45 tomorrow...later today :p that should be awesome, my dad said I could get BK Lounge for breakfast after. score.

hm...yea. I had something else, like five seconds ago, but it's gone now.

THAT'S WHAT IT WAS. I got a job at Summerfest, a yearly thing that Milwaukee does, 11 days of bands, beer and...I don't have another 'B' word. damn. w/e, there's a lot of music and drinking. it's the largest musical festival in the world. pretty cool, if you ask me. *shrug*

yea I think I'm done.

so I'm re-vamping my LJ layout (I think I'll leave the DW one alone) with a Generation Kill theme and I was wondering if any of you guys know of a good/well made/cool lookin' GK Friends Only Banner. I have the layout, I have the quotes I want, I have the mood theme...I don't use headers, because I've never really figured out how (I think it was just last month that I figured out how to use a custom mood theme :p), so I just browse LJ's default layouts and whatnot.

but I need a new FO banner. Generation Kill or even just ASkars himself would probably work. :D

so I used to hate icons that had no real purpose; icons that were just pictures, that didn't really mean anything. I always thought that anyone can screencap a scene, shrink it, and use it as an icon. I had a rule that I only used icons that had some kind of text or somehow explained why I was using it.

I realize that I'm slowly turning into one of those people that have almost all textless icons. I apologize for my previous views on textless icons and the people who make them. I think I used to feel that the icons somehow had to let the reader know why I was using that icon, and what my post was about.

I'm more of the opinion that the icons are all for me now, and I'm happy with my change of heart :p

EDIT: looking at my icons, I do still have more text icons than textless, but it's started. I have more textless icons saved than text...ones. w/e.

so with the abandonment of my 30 days of me! game, I guess I can get back to my random posting of nothing and my weekly updates.

Monday. hm. I haven't been doing anything substantial lately because I've been so engrossed in this new book series, The Sookie Stackhouse novels, also called the Southern Vampire Mysteries. my mother bought me the boxed set of seven two christmas' ago. two more have come out since then, and there's one scheduled to come out in May, so that makes ten books so far. I'm four chapters into the ninth at the moment.

these books are good. I don't love Sookie, the main character. the book is first person POV, so it's all told from sookie's point of view, and she...well, she annoys me. seriously, the only reason I'm reading these books is because of the vampires, and one vamp in particular. the character Eric Northman. he's so frickin awesome and I'm totally in love with him and finally, FINALLY, she's (the author) done what I want her to with him, and his relationship with sookie.

so those books have really wrapped me up this week. I know I picked Alex up from work one day and we drove around a little, stopped at Culver's for lunch...well, hah, dinner :D we made tentative plans to hang out maybe two or three times this last week but that never happened. no big deal, I've been so into these books I barely notice the outside world.

I'm just gonna skip to Friday because as I said, I haven't been doing much of anything this last week. we went to Taco Bell instead of the mall on friday because Brandon wasn't going to be there and Jared didn't show up either. the song 'Time After Time' came on while we were there. I have a version that's done by Eva Cassidy, and apparently the original was by Cindi Lauper? I don't know. but this one was by like...I don't even know, Less Than Jake or Silversun Pickups. some punk/pop band that I don't listen to. I remember catching a few of the lyrics and being like...'um, wtf mates?' and Aly just goes, 'yea, it's what you think it is.' so funny. there's no need to re-do a song like that in such an upbeat tempo. it's not meant to be like that :p

Saturday we went to Webb's at around 11 something. my mother actually came with us, so it was my Mother, my Father, my uncle bob, my cousins ben and mike and me. a little after we ordered my mom asks what the date is, I don't know why, but she did and I look at my phone and tell her, it's the 17th. and the annoying lightbulb goes off over my head and I remember that I had the stupid summerfest interview yesterday morning. It was 12 in the afternoon, the interviews were going on until 1 PM. my mother and I rushed home, I changed clothes, found my purse and my social security card, we rushed down to summrefest and got there at like....12:30. so I made it, had the interview, it was all good.

that night, Kevin and I went over to Aly and Brandon's house to watch the Chipmunk movie, the Squeakquel. we'd watched the first one as a big family thing, and I'd actually brought Jesse to that, hah. the movie was ok. you could tell they were grasping at any kind of plotline they could come up with to be able to introduce the Chipettes, and it was thin and not well formed because of that.

today, I read the 9th Sookie book and we went to Olive Garden for dinner. I sat around and didn't eat much because everyone was talking to me, about the Summerfest job, about the Post Office job that I haven't heard anything about in weeks. so that's kind of annoying. *shrug*

hm..go read the sookie stackhouse books. eric is my absolute favorite person right now :D

  • Day 26 - your week, in great detail: hah, you're asking too much. It's not eve because I'm lazy and don't want to do it, I literally don't remember things like that. I can't give you the entire last week in great detail, just like tomorrow's and the next day's will sucks because I can barely remember this week, let alone this month, let alone, this entire year so far. nope, not gonna happen. Monday, I don't think I did anything. Tuesday, I had a job interview. Wednesday...I might've hung out with Alex. Thursday, I hung out with Alex in the morning, Erin at night. Today, we went to the Mall for dinner, then to this Wheel & Sprocket bike expo thing to sign up for the UPAF Miller Lite Ride for the Arts event. which brings us to here. *shrug* that's all I got for ya.

  • Day 25 - your day, in great detail: Thursday. Well, I didn't go to sleep Wednesday night, so I was a little tired. I spend most of my day on the computer or watching my cousins. I go out with friends when possible, but really only at night. So, Thursday. I had been up reading a Merlin fic, There's No Makebelieving by miakun over on LJ in her writing comm miafic. While doing that I was DL'ing the first season of True Blood because I'd just finished the first book in the series that that show is based off of. Alex called at around 9 or 9:30 and we went out to breakfast, Mykonos on Capitol. We talked about movies as we do, and TV shows that we both watch. We reminisced about Chuck's latest episode and how AMAZING it was. After I got home, I was entranced for the rest of the day with True Blood. Erin and I were texting back and forth a little bit, making plans for thursday night. I took a shower at 5:25, took maybe a half-hour or 45 minute nap until she came and got me at....7:15 or 7:30. I don't remember. we were both hungry so we went to the mall and ate at Panera. we always sit at the little bar thing at the front of the store. I'm sure people going in and out of the mall think we're absolutely crazy, because I was overtired so we were laughing like maniacs. I always say the weirdest, yet most awesome things when I'm that tired. The Mall, which by default means Panera, closes at 9, so we left at about 8:50 and drove over to the Starbucks that used to be 24 hrs, but now is only open until 1 in the morning. We still ended up staying there till...11, I think. It's so weird, because there's this guy that's there every time we are, and he always sits somewhere in our sight line, and he just stares at us. He must go there almost every day, to be there every time we are, because we don't have any kind of set schedule that we go in there. I detoured like mad all over Milwaukee so we could take the longest way back to my house. And then I watched some more True Blood till around 6 in the morning, writing my EPIC Trek fic too and...yea.
Certainly not great detain, but I don't remember things in great detail. even if I'd done this yesterday night when it was all over, I wouldn't have remembered everything. *shrug*

  • Day 24 - whatever tickles your fancy: Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels (although I'm only about three quarters through the first one) are very good. The first one starts a little slow, and I'm still not sure who they're going to wrap this little mystery up, but I really like Bill. Not Sookie so much, but Bill's pretty awesome. I don't love Harris' writing style. It confuses and annoys me more often than not, and usually I wouldn't be able to read a series with an author like that, but my mother bought me these books for Christmas last year, and I have to read them, if only to assuage my guilt at not even touching them since I got them.

So. I don't highly recommend reading them, but I will at least say that they're good, and I'm enjoying them. :D

  • Day 20 - a hobby of yours: writing. some people do it because the have to, to some people it's a passion. I love to write, and I even love what I write sometimes, but I don't do it every day like I should and I don't feel the need to get it out of my system or I'll explode or w/e. I love to write. but it is more of a hobby than it could ever be a profession or a passion.

  •  Day 19 - a talent of yours: um...I have a really awesome jump shot? hah, I don't think that's exactly what you were looking for. Um, ok, here's something. I'm really good with voices and names and stuff. I can almost always tell you who's in a movie because I can connect the name to the face, I guess that works in real life too :p If it's a cartoon or an animated movie, a few lines from each character and I'm really good at picking out the way they say things and matching them up with something I've seen them in and recognizing who it is.

I don't know if that can count as a 'talent' I have. I can read really fast too :p When I set my mind to it (because if I don't enjoy the book, I'll purposely not read it or read it slowly) I can finish a book in a day or so. :D

  • Day 17 - an art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.): Thomas Kinkade has this new series, The Disney Dreams Collection or something, and there are six or seven of them now. maybe eight. This one is for the newest Disney Animation Studios movie, The Princess & The Frog but Kinkade adds in little surprises all over the painting. on the left side of tree, on the balcony across the river, Cinderella and Snow White are dancing at the party, but that's only one of them. another is that there are at least two famous people from history or something on the boat. I think there are more, but I couldn't tell you specifically :D

  • Day 16 - a song that makes you cry (or nearly): Gardenia by Mandy Moore.
  • and another, because when I really get into this song and think about what I'm singing, the tears definitely come :) In His Eyes - Linda Eder & Carolee Carmello. Songs from Jekyll & Hyde: The Gothic Musical Thriller.
  • I think I'm just going to keep adding them as I remember them :D a little bit Leave the Light On and a little bit Get It Off Your Chest, both by The Grace Weber Band. Grace Weber is pretty much amazing and I love everything she does, but these two songs are awesome.
  • Another: Sally's Song by Amy Lee. Sally's Song is of course from the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack, but Amy Lee sings it on the Nightmare Revisited album. awesome.
  • And I don't know how I forgot about this song, but whenever it comes on, on a CD I've made, on my shuffle, on a random TV show...I have to stop, and I just have to listen. this song is amazing: Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. and it has to be his version.

  • Day 15 - a fanfic: oh cripes, they're just asking for trouble with this one :p you have NO IDEA how much fanfic I read in a given week. too much, that's for sure. but one fanfic...well, my current favorite fandom is Reboot Star Trek, the '09 movie. and a fic that I would recommend...hm. well, my OTP is definitely Kirk/Spock, but I absolutely love Bones as well so I bump it up a notch and ship Kirk/Spock/McCoy :D. this is a series that starts out just Spock/Bones, and ends with all three of them. it's amazing, the author is amazing, all the rest of her fics are AMAZING, especially the rest of her K/S/Mc. I recommend you read all of them, and this one definitely in particular.
Author: cards_slash over on LJ.

First one: Above All, a logical being.
Second: Come Together
and the one that I'm using for my Day 15, the third: Next To You

all three of them are amazing, but as I said, I love the K/S/Mc she writes :D enojoy!

  • Day 14 - a non-fiction book: um...does it have to be one that I've read? because I don't actually have any of those...

I've never read a non-fiction book. I mean obviously, in class. most of those would count as non-fiction, but...other than that, I've got nothing. so you know what? how about another fiction book? :D I like that idea :p

Dragon's Milk by Susan Fletcher.

this book is awesome. first in a triology, it's all about dragons. and I love dragons. and the main character, Kaeldra, I think her name is, is kind of awesome. and the male lead is also pretty cool. I don't have as much to say about this book as about Ella Enchanted, because I haven't read this book in a very long time, and I read Ella Enchanted ALL the time :p but it's a good book. it's a great book :D

  • Day 13 - a fictional book: Ella Enchanted. This book...just amazing. I've never been a fan of Cinderella, at least not the Disney movie. the fairytale itself isn't so bad, and Gail Carson Levine does just phenomenal with this book. Ella is funny and Charmont is kind of awesome and everything about it is just great. I can't say enough good things about this book and I can't keep talking, I'd just never stop :p

  • Day 12 - whatever tickles your fancy: hm...another piece of fic? This would be from my new obsession, my Trek fic. I swore to myself that I would never write Trek fic, but this one snuck up on me and exploded in one of my dreams and now it won't leave me alone :D I'm throwing you in kind of randomly, but I want opinions on this. It's the scene where they (the male and female leads) break-up, so yes I understand you haven't even seen how they even get together yet, but...like I said, I want to see how I did on this. this story has become my baby, and I haven't had a baby story in a long time :p

what you have to know for this fic going in (other than that I'm throwing you out into the deep end of the fic itself) is that I'm using Gaila as an old girlfriend for Kirk. they're what I'm calling 'sandbox sweethearts'. they've been friends since they were babies, he proposed when he was five :p, and they were 'together' (as together as you can be when you're in grade school :p) up until she left right before freshman year of high school. and now she's back, at the end of their senior year. okie doke :D

OH, and she (my female lead) has five brothers. she refers to a 'them' at one point. she's talking about her brothers and her father. her mother is dead.

ok.
